Housewarming invitation wording

• Simple

  We've moved! Come and warm up our new home on [date] from [time], [address], [floor]. Let us know if you're coming.

• Funny

  The boxes are (almost) all unpacked. Come and admire our flat-pack skills on [date] from [time], [address]. Door code: [code]. Lift: fingers crossed.

• Potluck

  Potluck housewarming on [date] at [time], [address]. Everyone brings a dish or a drink: tell us what you're bringing when you reply.

• For the neighbours

  We've just moved in on the [floor] and would love to meet you. Drinks on [date] at [time], at ours. Drop us a reply to say if you can pop by?

When to send a housewarming invitation

1. 2 to 3 weeks before Send the link. A housewarming is more casual than a birthday, but Saturday nights still get booked early.
2. 5 days before RSVP deadline, for the shopping.
3. The day before Reminder with the door code, the floor and where to park.
4. On the night If the code or buzzer changes, update the invitation: everyone gets the right info through the same link.

Questions to ask your guests

• What are you bringing? A multiple-choice question (food, drinks, dessert) to avoid ten bottles of wine and no crisps.
• Bringing a plus-one? To count glasses.
• Coming by car? If parking is tricky, you can warn people.
