Canva invitation with RSVP: keep your design, add the replies
Canva is great for designing an invitation. But a design sent on WhatsApp doesn't tell you who's coming. Here's how to keep your Canva design and add proper RSVP tracking.
Can you do RSVPs with Canva?
Canva is first and foremost a design tool: it gives you a lovely image or PDF. To collect and track replies (who's coming, with whom, which allergies), you need a dedicated tool alongside it.
The good news: you don't have to choose. You can keep your design and plug RSVP tracking into it.
How do you add replies to a Canva invitation?
Two ways, depending on whether you send it online or on paper. Online, your design becomes the photo on the Invitotte card; on paper, the Invitotte link becomes a QR code on your design.
- Online: export your Canva design as an image, create an Invitotte invitation and add the image as its photo. Guests see your design and reply in one tap below it.
- On paper: create the Invitotte invitation, copy its link (it never changes), make a QR code (for instance with Scanotte) and place it on your design before printing.
- Both: send the link to people on WhatsApp, and the printed card with a QR code to everyone else.
What does Canva do better?
Design freedom: fonts, illustrations, layout, anything goes. Our 12 themes are simpler, adjustable in colour, font, emoji and photo, but not a blank canvas.
If the look matters a lot to you, keep Canva for the design. Invitotte handles the rest.
What does Invitotte add to a Canva design?
The replies and everything around them: yes, no, maybe, plus-ones, deadline, questions, guest list shown or hidden, and a live dashboard. The card stays current: if the time changes, you edit it without resending an image.
Guests also get an add-to-calendar button, directions, and access to the shared photo album on the day. How replies work is covered in managing RSVPs online.
How much does it cost?
On the Invitotte side, free for up to 10 guests, then €9.90 once for up to 150. On the Canva side, we don't quote prices: check their plans on their site.

Which format should you export from Canva?
A JPEG, PNG or WebP image: that's what an Invitotte card accepts as its photo. A PDF can't be added as the photo.
Your browser shrinks the image before uploading, so there's no need for very high resolution. Go for a layout that reads well on a phone, with large enough text: the date and venue show below the image anyway.
What's the most common mistake with Canva invitations?
Sending the image on its own to a group chat and hoping everyone replies. Replies get lost in the thread, and nobody knows who said yes.
Always add a way to reply alongside the image: a link with one-tap replies, and a deadline. Message ideas to go with the link are in WhatsApp invitations.
Frequently asked questions
Will my Canva design display well?
Yes, it shows as the photo at the top of the card. A design that's readable on a phone (large enough text) works best.
Do I need to repeat the date and venue in Invitotte?
It's a good idea: the date and venue fields power the calendar button and directions, and stay readable even if the image is small.
Will the QR code still work if I edit the invitation?
Yes, an Invitotte invitation's link never changes.
Does Invitotte print cards?
No, Invitotte doesn't print. Print your design wherever you like.
